This data privacy policy applies to the following social media profiles of the outreach project “Exoplanet Diversity”:

The aforementioned social media profiles are managed by the SPP 1992 coordination office. In addition to the SPP 1992, the providers of the respective platforms are also jointly responsible for compliance with data protection requirements.
The social media profiles are operated under a joint controllership in accordance with Art. 26 of the General Data Protection Regulation (DGPR).

Purpose of data processing
The social media profiles of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” supplement the website https://outreach.spp1992-exoplanetdiversity.de/ and provide users the opportunity to consume content prepared for the respective platforms and to interact with the project team.
As soon as users access the project “Exoplanet Diversity”’s social media profiles, the terms and conditions stated there apply as do the data processing guidelines of the respective providers.
The project “Exoplanet Diversity” has no influence on data processing in the respective networks. The data collected about you when using the service will be processed by the provider(s) and may be transferred to countries outside the European Union. TU Berlin has no influence on the type and scope of the data processed by the provider, the type of processing and use or transfer of this data to third parties, in particular to countries outside the European Union. Information about what data is processed by the provider and for which purposes can be found in the privacy policy of the respective provider.
Personal data received by the editorial team of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” via messages or comments on the project’s social media profiles is processed further as needed.
The editorial team of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” processes data for the following purposes:
- To generate and make available social media content
- To process private and public contact requests and communicate with users
- To respond to comments on posts and moderate discussions
- To evaluate what content is relevant to users and adjust content accordingly
- To draw attention to target group-specific events and services from the world of exoplanets.

Legal basis
Insofar as the editorial team of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” obtains the consent of the data subject for processing operations involving personal data, Art. 6 (1) p. 1 lit. a GDPR serves as the legal basis.
Data transfer to third parties
The editorial team of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” will only transfer your personal data to third parties when fulfilling a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, or with your consent.
Storage period
The storage period for personal data within the social media platforms depends on the respective platform operators. The project “Exoplanet Diversity” has no access to data stored by the platform operators.
The editorial team of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” deletes or blocks personal data as soon as it is no longer needed to achieve the purpose of its collection. Your personal data may continue to be stored if this is provided for by the European or national legislator in EU regulations, laws or other provisions to which the controlling party is subject. Data will also be blocked or deleted whenever a storage period prescribed by the aforementioned standards expires, unless there is a need to continue storing the data to conclude or fulfill a contract.
The editorial team may also store data in order to secure illegal content and content posted on social media profiles of the project “Exoplanet Diversity” that violates the project’s netiquette. The identity of the authors of such content is therefore of interest.
