My name is Ludwig Scheibe and I work at TU Berlin for the exoplanet research network DFG-Priority Programme (SPP) 1992, where I plan and conduct public outreach activities and support Prof. Heike Rauer with her teaching activities at FU Berlin.

Originally from Magdeburg, I studied Physics in Rostock and then did my PhD in the area of planetary physics. There, I focused on the long-term evolution of Uranus’ and Neptune’s deep interior.

That was interesting and fulfilling work, but I had most fun at public events like open-door days, as well as doing my part for the university teaching, in short: to pass on knowledge to interested others. So when I had the chance to do that full time for the exoplanet priority programme after I had finished my doctorate, I jumped at the chance.

Exoplanets are a fascinating area of research, because they allow us to approach the big questions like “Where do we come from?”, “Where will we go?” and “Is there other life out there?”. My job allows me to carry forward my own passion for these questions. I hope I can do my part so that we can continue to make fascinating and world-expanding discoveries in exoplanet research.
