by Ruth Titz-Weider (DLR), August 2024

ARIEL is an ESA space mission scheduled for launch in 2029. It is intended to determine the chemical composition and temperature profile in the atmospheres of many exoplanets, be they rocky planets or gas giants. The instrument is a telescope with an aperture of around one metre and has two spectrometers that operate in the infrared wavelength range.
